This is a very popular event that originated in the United States. Only vehicles that have passed strict screening are allowed to enter the venue!
WEKFEST JAPAN 2024 was held on May 3 at the Exhibition Hall 1 of Port Messe Nagoya in Aichi Prefecture, Japan WEKFEST is an event born in San Francisco, U.S.A., which started in 2008. It has gained popularity for its sophisticated atmosphere unlike any other event, and has now become an essential community for the American custom industry.
WEKFEST, which originated in the United States, made its first appearance in Japan in 2014. The event was thoroughly focused on recreating the holiday car shows held in the United States, the home of customization, and it was so successful that it quickly rose to the status of a popular event.
WEKFEST JAPAN is often said to be the highest quality car show in Japan. The reason for this is the strict pre-screening process.
The prerequisites for entry vehicles are defined as follows.
1, Must have a neat concept.
2, Must have excellent functionality.
3, Must be customized with only authorized products.
4, High quality craftsmanship and bodywork.
5, Excellent overall balance of the car.
Four more things must be cleared before entry is allowed.
1, North American sales approval.
2, Vehicles with genuine US parts or modified with external parts.
3, Cars that are more than 25 years old from the first year of registration.
4, Vehicles that have passed the photo inspection conducted by WEKFEST USA.
In other words, vehicles that are currently running in North America are targeted.
The entry period is usually from January 1 to 31, followed by a rigorous judging process that takes about a month. And when the selection results are announced, it is a WEKFEST JAPAN tradition that immediately afterwards a pass/fail debate erupts on social networking sites. Since it is WEKFEST USA that conducts the photo judging, it is a little different from the way Japanese people feel about it. This is often a point of contention, but from the perspective of the observers, the debate can be quite profound and instructive.

The most difficult Sedan & VIP category. This 17CROWN and 30CELSIOR won the award!
WEKFEST JAPAN 2024 was held on May 3, and again this year, high-level custom cars gathered from all over Japan. The elite cars that gathered there were only those that had passed the rigorous screening process by WEKFEST USA. Looking around the venue, it is easy to understand why the quality of the cars on display is said to be the best in Japan.
Again, all of the vehicles gathered at the event are cars that are sold in North America, or cars that have passed the 25-year rule in the United States. Since there was no question of genre, cars of all specifications were gathered, but the most common vehicles at the event were Japanese cars, and those with extremely lowered heights were conspicuous.
It would not be an exaggeration to say that sedans and VIP cars were the main vehicles at WEKFEST JAPAN 2024. The 17CROWN and 30CELSIOR won the prestigious awards in these two categories.
SSEDAN OF THE FESTIVAL 1st Prize
Award|17CROWN
Pushing aside such powerhouses as the LEXUS LS, this 17CROWN won the award in the Sedan category. Powerful over fenders. The matching wheels are also of the highest level. The exterior is simple and well made, bringing out the best of the CROWN without overdoing it. WEKFEST JAPAN can win the first place if it is cool, regardless of the year.
VIP CAR OF THE FESTIVAL 1st Prize
Award|30CELSIOR
The 30 CELSIOR, sold in the U.S. under the name LS430, is a familiar car to the WEKFEST staff in the U.S., so the judges must have been very strict in their evaluation. The body is all black. The only thing that shines out are the extra-thick rims of the wheels. The over fenders combined with the rims were sharply designed with a narrower profile. This is what a VIP would look like.
WEKFEST JAPAN 2024 is an event where excellent cars that have passed a rigorous screening process gather, and to win an award there is an accomplishment. These two cars are sure to attract attention not only in Japan but also in the U.S. in the future.
The entire venue had the atmosphere of the home of customization in the United States. WEKFEST JAPAN is held only once a year, and this year was once again a great time and space.
